Arsenal are set to face no competition from rival clubs as they look to tie up a deal to sign Bruno Guimaraes, talkSPORT understands.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has identified the Newcastle captain as a priority signing this window as he looks to bolster his midfield.

talkSPORT first reported the Premier League champions’ interest in the Brazilian last month.
The north London giants have already agreed personal terms with the 28-year-old, who has informed Newcastle of his desire to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have seen an offer, via intermediaries, of £65million knocked back by Newcastle in their pursuit of the ex-Lyon star.

But it is believed that they will soon return with a new offer north of £70m as Arsenal look to finally get their man – years after being pipped to his signature by the Toon.
In an extra boost for Arsenal, there’s little risk of any other Premier League club pinching Guimaraes from their grasp, unlike when Chelsea hijacked their move for Morgan Rogers.
Prior to Guimaraes linking up at St James’ Park in January 2022, last season’s Champions League finalists had him on their radar, before Newcastle came in to swoop with a £35m deal.
Last week, we told you how Newcastle value their prize asset at around £100m.
Newcastle have been adamant that they do not intend to sell the player this summer, and are hopeful they can thrash out a new deal, while denying direct talks are taking place with Arsenal.
Guimaraes, who has also been the subject of a recent enquiry from another Premier League club, currently has two years left on his contract at Tyneside.

He told talkSPORT: “I really rate this lad, you see him last season when he was out of the Newcastle team, how he struggled.
“He’s been the captain, he’s the one who’s drove them, who’s tucked them sometimes on his back and made things happen
” So it’ll be a massive, massive signing for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, I think he’ll be fantastic to link up with at Declan Rice.”
Before adding: “But also to bring someone of his quality into what is already a Premier League-winning side, and Champions League finalists, will only make them a stronger and better outfit.”
Arteta will be desperate to not miss out on another top target having been beaten in the race to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old was Arsenal’s no.1 priority, but pulled out of the running after refusing to meet the Villans’ valuation.

Chelsea, who had been keeping tabs on the former Middlesbrough man, came in to agree a whopping £117m deal with the Europa League holders.
And Arsenal were unwilling to match that fee, with the club only prepared to go as high as £80m to secure the services of the England international.
Rogers is now set to become the most expensive British player in history.
His £117m transfer eclipses the £116m Manchester City forked out to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.

Greek winger Chrisos Tzolis completed his move from Club Brugge in a £34million deal on Wednesday.
He replaces Leandro Trossard, with the Belgian leaving to join Turkish side Besiktas for £17m.
Arsenal remain in the market to bring in a new winger, with Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola admired.
Meanwhile, versatile Atletico Madrid man Julian Alvarez is another option with the LaLiga club refusing to sell him to rivals Barcelona.
